The wool blend (55% wool, 45% polyester) will also stand up better to the abuses of cycling (heat, sweat and repeated washing), and will behave like a “sport wool” (wicking coolness). It is a deep, dark shade of grey, with grey-ish white pinstripes woven in. I’ve sewn this cap up carefully with attention to the stripes, so that they match at seams, creating eye-pleasing patterns and geometry. Take a look at the apex of the crown — it’s practically kaleidoscopic!
The cap has elastic in the back for a comfy fit over a range of head sizes, and to keep it from flying off your head. The cap will fit under most bike helmets. It has a 5cm deep fiber-filled brim which is crushable, flippable, washable, and shapeable. All top-stitching is done in matching thread. The inner seams are professionally finished with a serger and the 3/4″ black cotton twill tape sweatband encases loose edges. This cap is built to last!
This is a 55% wool 45% poly blend, so it means it will survive wet, warm, agitation much better than a 100% wool cloth. Yes, you can throw it in the washer, but I still recommend drying flat or hanging to dry by a clothespin. Hot steam iron is OK as well.
