Buttery and soft merino wool knit in an amazing dark eggplant (purple) color that is very difficult to capture in photographs — sometimes it appears dark brown, sometimes almost black. This cap has nice long earflaps that can be pulled down if necessary for good coverage. Soft 4.5cm deep bill will hold its shape despite an occasional folding and put up with all sorts of abuse.
The wool knit has a little lycra in it for good stretch and recovery. All seams are serged for durability and super stretchability as well. This cap is totally reversible in case one side gets funky and you don’t have time to wash it. Aside from the tiny tag on one side you will hardly be able to tell which side is in and which is out. It’s wool, which means it will wick sweat from you, keeping you dryer and therefore warmer. It will also resist bacterial growth.
For longest life, I recommend a wash in the sink with Woolite or Eucalan or even mild dish soap. Let it rest and soak a few minutes then rinse in warm water, squeeze out some of the water, and hang or lay out on a rack to air dry.
This is a superb quality handmade cap that will keep you cozy and looking snappy on your bike for many years.
